Cullum Sr. (born June 26, 1937) Linda Jane Cullum (born April 8, 1940) Sherman D. Cullum, Sr. was raised on a small, diversified farm producing cattle, hogs, corn, broilers, cotton, milo, wheat and soybeans. He graduated from Piggott High School, where he was active in 4-H clubs and FFA, in 1955. He received his FFA State Farmers Degree in 1953. Cullum attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He sometimes worked as many as three jobs at once to help pay his way through college. While at U of A, he was a member of the Livestock Judging Team and Alpha Zeta, an honorary agriculture fraternity. He also proudly served six months active duty and six years in the Arkansas National Guard, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Cullum has been involved in agriculture from early childhood to the pres- ent and never misses an opportunity to promote agriculture. His love for agriculture and anything connected to it has been a guiding factor in his life. His contributions to the field—many of which are listed below—are too numerous to detail in the short amount of space we have. It is our hope we can better represent those by telling the company’s story in this book. In 1997, after 20 successful years in business and on Cullum’s 60th birthday, the Cullums sold Cullum Seeds, Inc. and retired. During his 35 year career in ag busi- ness, Cullum has been in management that was responsible for over $300,000,000 in agricultural sales. The Cullums relocated to Cherry Valley, AR in 1999, and then moved back to Hickory Ridge. They have small farms in Poinsett and Clay Counties Sherman and Linda Cullum seated at the head table of an Arkansas Seed Dealers Association Conference.
